Dear Sir:

Regarding your letter dated directing me to proceed with (describe change), at a cost not to exceed $ , I have proceeded with the work as directed.

However, the costs of the work have now reached the ceiling price. I must request that additional funds be appropriated for this change before I can proceed with any further work.

As shown on the attached breakdown, the approximate material, labor and equipment costs, plus overhead and a reasonable profit, now equal or exceed the ceiling price. We require authorization for an estimated additional amount of $ to complete the change.

I am prepared to meet with you at your office to discuss and resolve this change request at your earliest convenience. Please advise in writing how I should proceed at this time.

I am prepared to remobilize to the change order work upon receipt of a final modification for this additional work.
